Celebration & Reflection Show Application

 

DEADLINE: Friday, March 30th, 11:59pm

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a brother of Sigma Lambda Beta to apply. The general public is invited to apply to an upcoming open show in the summer of 2018.

ART SALES: Interested buyers will be directed to reach out to artists directly for sales transactions. Sales funds will not be accepted by the gallery. Exhibiting artists will receive 100% of sales.

APPLYING: Applying is a two-part process. 1) Email images to info@gallery86.org; 2) Complete online application. Selected artists will be contacted April 1st via email.

STEP 1 - EMAIL: Send intended images to info@gallery86.org.

  • Email subject line: SP18 Show Sub
  • Image file-name per piece: [2018SP-LastName-TitleOfWork]
  • All artwork images of proper technical specifications attached to single email.
  • All artwork details and artist statements in body of same email.

STEP 2 - ONLINE APPLICATION

SUBJECT MATTER: The theme for the show is “Celebration & Reflection” in honor of April 4th, the founding of Sigma Lambda Beta.

Most subject matter is accepted, except the following:

  • Any explicitly pornographic material
  • Works glorifying historical prejudice and bias

Works with the following imagery will be subject to review and possible rejection:

  • Implicitly pornographic material
  • Explicit depictions of violence
  • Political propaganda
  • Suspected plagiarism

ARTWORK PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Adequate lighting of piece at desired angle
  • Resolution: 300 dpi
  • Max size: 3 MB
  • Picture must match live piece, i.e. no excessive photo editing

WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:

Artwork details:

  • Title
  • Medium
  • Year created
  • Requested sales price (can be omitted at artist’s request)

Artist statement:

  • 150 word max statement on the work’s connection with the theme of “Celebration & Reflection.”
  • Poorly written statements are subject to requests for re-writing if selected for show.
