2D Design

Is the introduction to the elements of design, the foundation to drawing, painting, and sculpture. Here you will learn about space, composition, shape, form, line weight, pattern, texture, and color. This will help you how to problem solve, simplify, and complete your desired image.

Color Theory

Is the use of color in both art and science. Color can be use to mix and create new color, create vibration, harmony, or tension.  Color has a reaction to each other which can captivate mood, feelings, and or symbolism. This will help you build your color vocabulary, and direct you in discovering what your color theory means to you personally.

Painting

Is the process of using paint on a surface to create a visual work of art. Traditionally, paint is applied with a brush, but it can be applied through a variety of  methods. Painting can be objective or non objective, and can be used as a form of documentation of time, space, and emotion. In this course, you will learn how to use paint in a traditional manner with a brush to captivate your vision.

Group Critiques

Here, every artist will participate in group critiques. This is where each artist will present their work to the class, sharing each other’s ideas, perspective, intention, challenging obstacles, and personal growth. This will help you develop an understanding to constructive criticism, how group critiques tremendously expand your progress as an artist, and broaden your professional artist gaze.

Canvas

Stretcher bars will be built before hand at 30 x 36 inches. A good amount of stretchers will be pre built, while a few will be left to put together as a class. Once squared and secure, you will stretch the canvas over the frame. When the canvas is completely stretched, you will apply a coat of primer  to your desired surface preference.

Group Exhibition

Every student will submit a work of art and participate in a group exhibition at Gallery 86 on September the 13th 2024. The community will be invited to the exhibition. Every student is encouraged to invite their friends and family to celebrate their work of art.
